Two manufacturers of very modern heating systems in the UK are Alpha and Biasi.  This article is going to take a quick look at both companies and what they offer, allowing you to make your choice with confidence.  We’ll start off with Biasi boilers.

Biasi have manufactured boilers for 75 years, and have gained a reputation for stylish design with technological innovation.  They have four designs in their range, with the cutting edge being the Activa Plus.  It comes in both combi and system versions, which both feature advanced features like self-checking and fault bypassing, weather compensation and fuel savers which allow the boiler to adjust its heating output according to the environmental demands.

The Activa is the next range, and is still pretty advanced.  It comes as combi, system or open vent, and each version is extremely efficient for its class.  All have excellent flow rates and have been designed to be easy to use with the minimum of fuss.

An older range, the Riva Plus is still ‘A’ rated for efficiency and has two power output levels as either a combi or system boiler.   It also has the automatic fault detection and bypass software, and can be run on LPG if mains gas isn’t available.

Finally, the Riva Advance is now the entry level combi or system boiler, but still reasonably good kit.  Very compact, so it can be placed almost anywhere, LPG conversions are available and you’d struggle to find comparable features like the frost prevention system on competitors’ entry level models.

Alpha boilers have been fitted in UK homes for about 45 years now.  They have the usual range of combi, system and regular boilers, with the addition of a wall hung storage combination boiler.  They also feature a number of extras, such as Flowsmart and GasSaver which increase the already impressive efficiency and programmable controls which improve the ease of use for their customers.

Their combi boilers cover the full range of requirements and budgets.  From the basic Tec-X range for smaller homes and limited budgets, to the Tec-C models with their standard 5 year guarantees and the CD50 storage combi which provides for larger properties with multiple bathrooms, there is a model to suit almost everybody.

If you prefer to go with a system boiler, then the Tec-S range comes in three power outputs to suit all sizes of home.  As they use the same casings as the combi boilers, they’re one of the smallest most unobtrusive system boilers on the market and also one of the easiest to position and install.

There is still a market for regular or heat only boilers, and the CDR range of Alpha boilers aims to meet the need.   Output ranges from 13kW to 24kW, so will suit most homes, and of course they are SEDBUK band ‘A’ rated for efficiency.  They come with a three year guarantee as standard and can be adapted to LPG if you aren’t on the main gas grid.
