The Viewty is the best mobile phone from LG to date with features that go together and a very attractive design. In addition, the videos are what is the best right now.

Design and ergonomics

The Viewty is a beautiful object we immediately want to take control. Its design is inspired by Prada black dress with a very successful and a finish to match. In the absence of keyboard, any entry passes through the large touch screen that does its job brilliantly, including an SMS to enter. The keys on the keyboard are a bit small at first but with a little practice you can also enter a message faster than a traditional keyboard. The tactile experience can become a nightmare when you have to press repeatedly on the screen for the desired function. This is fortunately not the case here and the Viewty is very useful in everyday life. Remaining three buttons on the front to answer a call, hang up or correct the entry. Just above the screen is a small secondary sensor for videoconferencing.

The interface is well thought out with two menus. The first is divided into two parts with a vertical bar to the right where the main categories and the different sections on the left. The second is less cute and much more with classic items as icons. In all cases, the bottom of the screen is occupied by four shortcuts that provide quick access to the main menu, the mode telephony, messaging and address book. However, these shortcut buttons are not configurable.

Seen from behind, the Viewty looks just like a camera with its objective of which is next to the flash. To switch from one mode to another, a switch is built on the edge of the phone also has a trigger like any camera.

Screen

The screen is the centerpiece of the Viewty. It is large and full touch. Each press of the screen is accompanied by a slight vibration to confirm actions. Its intensity is adjustable via the menu. The USB port is unfortunately no standard format but LG provides all the cables you may need including a remote control. It incorporates a standard jack for listening to music with headphones of your choice. Better still, the remote has a microphone to make calls while keeping the headphones on.

Finally, the internal memory is very comfortable with 100 MB of storage space and if that's not enough, you can always add a microSD card in the drive for this purpose.

Multimedia

It has been said, seen from behind the Viewty looks just like a dedicated camera. Better yet, it does not stop there and the pictures are of good quality with accurate colors and a well controlled compression. Many settings are available only in low light pictures are disappointing despite the flash.

In addition, the Viewty is also capable of recording video with VGA resolution. Given the size of images, one might have feared the worst for their fluidity, but it is not and videos of the last jewel of LG outperform the competition by far.

Finally, the player is no exception especially as it is again much more complete than the Prada. But that's not all, the Viewty is also compatible with the DivX format without prior conversion. Of course, this is the version 5 of the famous codec but do not spoil our fun, it's always more convenient than the MPEG-4 requires the owner to re-encode the videos, a process that takes hours if at the manufacturer provides the appropriate software. Damage, however, that Xvid is not known for transforming the Viewty video player. The helmet is disappointing but the remote is equipped with a standard for change.
